Article by firm attorneys assesses free speech on college campuses in the wake of pro-Palestine protests

In an article published in the Fall 2024 issue of the Boston Bar Journal, Rachel Hutchinson analyzes the free speech implications arising from the crackdown on pro-Palestine protesters on college campuses across the country.

The article notes that the pro-Palestine protests and their aftermath highlight a long-existing tension in higher education: balancing free speech on campus while ensuring student safety.

Ms. Hutchinson address key First Amendment issues, including the scope of protections for inflammatory or offensive speech, and whether encampments on college campuses are protected under the First Amendment.
