Attorney General appoints David Meier special prosecutor to investigate death of State Police recruit
David Meier has been appointed to conduct an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a Massachusetts State Police recruit during a recent training exercise.
Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell announced that Mr. Meier, a partner at Todd & Weld, will lead the probe into the death of Enrique Delgado-Garcia.
“I am committed to an independent, comprehensive, and professional investigation,” Mr. Meier said. “We will follow the facts and the law wherever they lead. The family of Enrique Delgado-Garcia deserves nothing less.”
Mr. Meier was previously appointed special counsel to then-Governor Deval Patrick and led an independent investigation into the mishandling of drug evidence by chemist Annie Dookhan at a state drug laboratory.
Mr. Meier, Chair of the firm's Government Investigations and Criminal Defense Practice Group, is a criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor. He served 12 years as the Chief of Homicide in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
He concentrates his practice on representing private individuals and companies during the pre-charging investigation stages, throughout grand jury proceedings, and at trials in state and federal court.
