Firm’s sponsorship of DEI Fellowship highlighted by Mass. Bar Association
Todd & Weld’s sponsorship of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Fellowship is featured in the organization’s Jan. 25 eJournal.
The firm in 2023 funded a portion of the inaugural fellowship and will continue its support in 2024.
The fellowship provides a scholarship opportunity to a law student who accepts an unpaid summer internship at a Massachusetts nonprofit providing civil legal services. The 2023 recipient, Ali Shafi, is a third-year student at Boston College Law School who recently completed an internship at Prisoners’ Legal Services of Massachusetts.
Ingrid S. Martin, a Todd & Weld partner and chair of the firm’s DEI Committee, said, “It was an honor to support Ali in his commitment to public service. He is a gifted student attorney, and we are confident he will be an excellent criminal defense attorney and a valuable member of the Massachusetts legal community.”
Shayla Mombeleur, an associate at the firm, spearheaded the establishment of the fellowship while serving as Co-Chair of the MBA’s DEI Committee. Ms. Mombeleur currently serves on the MBA’s Executive Committee as Secretary.
