Ingrid Martin quoted in news article on potential increase of federal prosecution dismissals
Ingrid S. Martin was quoted in a page one news article in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly on the potential increase of dismissals of federal prosecutions in the wake of the recent dismissal of extortion charges against Boston city officials.
Ms. Martin, a partner at Todd & Weld, concentrates her practice on the intersection of criminal defense and healthcare law, representing a wide range of healthcare providers and entities.
She said that "innovative" criminal cases pushed by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Boston could be a "flag to the judiciary that they should take a closer look" at the indictments.
"As a criminal defense attorney, I would love it if judges would take a harder look at motions to dismiss, especially so when the government is bringing a more novel, aggressive theory," Ms. Martin told the publication.
The April 9 article analyzed the scope of authority federal judges potentially have in dismissing indictments.
