Michael DiStefano appointed to federal Criminal Justice Act Panel
Michael R. DiStefano has been appointed to a three-year term as a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel of the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts.
Criminal Justice Act appointees represent criminal defendants in federal court who are unable for financial reasons to retain counsel. Appointees must have demonstrable criminal defense experience, as well as knowledge of court rules governing criminal procedure, federal rules of evidence, and the federal sentencing guidelines.
Mr. DiStefano concentrates his practice on government investigations and criminal defense, including representing clients in federal grand jury proceedings and investigations conducted by federal prosecutors. Prior to joining Todd & Weld, he was an assistant attorney general in Massachusetts, as well as a prosecutor in the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.
