Rich Novitch to co-chair program assessing best practices in wake of SJC's landmark child support, alimony decision

Richard Novitch is co-chair of an MCLE program assessing best practices for family law attorneys in the wake of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court’s recent landmark decision interpreting the Massachusetts Alimony Reform Act.

The SJC’s momentous ruling in Cavanagh v. Cavanagh creates far-reaching changes to how family law judges are to assess whether to award child support or alimony in divorce cases.

Mr. Novitch will lead a panel of Family Court judges and practitioners in analyzing the new three-step analysis for determining whether a judge should award alimony or child support, as well as how the SJC’s ruling will impact the scope of permissible spousal testimony and what is considered income for purposes of child support and alimony.

The in-person and live webcast program is slated for 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Oct. 14.

Mr. Novitch, a partner at the firm, concentrates his practice on all aspects of complex matrimonial matters, probate litigation, and related appeals.  He has extensive experience handling complex cases and issues on appeal before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and Massachusetts Appeals Court.
