Richard Novitch presents at family law program on division of assets in divorces
Richard Novitch presented as part of a panel discussion on the appropriate division of assets in divorces, especially when an equal division is not a fair result.
The June 11 MCLE program – entitled “When 50/50 Isn’t Fair” – addressed what Massachusetts Family Court judges assess when considering arguments that an equitable division of assets isn’t an equal split. The program covered various topics impacting the division of assets, including alimony, trusts, inheritances, and premarital assets.
A veteran courtroom and appellate attorney, Mr. Novitch has tried and been involved in numerous cases in the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court, and numerous appeals before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and Appeals Court, involving a wide range of matters, including First Amendment and other constitutional questions, child custody and relocation cases, and harassment and abuse prevention orders.
He also has extensive experience in litigation involving fiduciaries – including post-death disputes over business and partnership interests, the enforceability and interpretation of wills and trusts, the removal of trustees, and challenges to various estate planning vehicles based on a lack of capacity or undue external influences.
